Forgiveness Over Bitterness

These questions are designed for you to think on through the week, discuss with a Bible Fellowship or accountability partner, or lead with in family devotions. We hope they help you in your spiritual development.

  1. Read Proverbs 10:12. Think of a time when you either chose hatred or love. How did your response affect the conflict?
  2. Discuss the benefits of forgiveness for the one who is forgiven; also discuss the benefits for the one who forgives.
  3. What did Jesus say about forgiveness? See Matthew 6:14–15 and Luke 7:47.
  4. When someone does something wrong against you, why is it hard to forgive that person?
  5. Is there someone in your life whom you need to forgive? Pray and ask the Lord to heal any broken relationship you have. After praying, make the first move and contact that person: choose forgiveness over bittern

Memory Verse: "... bearing with one another and, if one has a complaint against another, forgiving each other; as the Lord has forgiven you, so you must also forgive." Colossians 3:13
